All of our passionate and dedicated teachers meet the highest international standards with formal qualifications and extensive experience in teaching English to children.

Our minimum requirements for teachers are:

  • education to degree level or equivalent qualification
  • a certificate level qualification in teaching English as a foreign language such as Cambridge University CELTA or Trinity College London CertTESOL
  • at least two years’ teaching experience
  • high proficiency in the use of the English language.

English Teacher- British Council

Zeenat Beedassy

“Helping the kids improve their English language in a creative way is what motivates me. It also helps that my students come into class with plenty of enthusiasm.”

Originally from the UK, Zeenat taught a year in Japan on the JET Programme before joining the British Council. Among her current teaching commitments, Zeenat is involved in our much-valued Chagos Project. With a background in Theatre Design, Zeenat brings novel and creative tools to all of her lessons.

Joni Mostert

“Teaching EYC at the British Council is an incredibly rewarding role which allows me to provide an environment needed to help prepare and nurture my students’ early development.”

Joni studied Montessori Methodology in the UK, and has been an essential part in the establishment of our Early Years Club. Besides working with our youngest students, Joni taught ESL in the French school system for five years and enjoys developing lessons for low-level adult classes from beginners onwards.
