All of our passionate and dedicated teachers meet the highest international standards with formal qualifications and extensive experience in teaching academic English and preparing students for exams such as IELTS.

Our minimum requirements for teachers are:

  • education to degree level or equivalent qualification
  • a certificate level qualification in teaching English as a foreign language such as Cambridge University CELTA or Trinity College London CertTESOL
  • at least two years’ teaching experience
  • high proficiency in the use of the English language.

Matthew Atheton

Matthew Atherton

Originally from the UK, Matthew moved to Mauritius five years ago. Wanting to do something more rewarding on a personal level, he retrained as a teacher. His current areas of interest are IELTS training and General English. Matthew loves the challenge of creating dynamic, fun and engaging lessons for students from primary to adult level.

Niamh Ramjuttun

Niamh has been teaching for over 12 years. She has taught  in Ireland, UK and South Korea before joining the British Council in Mauritius in 2013. Soon to be Delta qualified, Niamh's current interest is in English for University Students.
