Tris Bartlett, the British Council County Director in Mauritius has had a career in Cultural Relations and International Development spanning over 20 years, with extensive experience in Africa and Asia.
Prior to joining the British Council in 2004, Tris worked in the NGO and University sectors, in the fields of education, enterprise development and conflict resolution. With the British Council, Tris has managed a large education programme in Nigeria, been Director of Education and Employability in Egypt, Regional Director for Education for the Middle East and North Africa and Head of Commercial Services based in London.
In his spare time Tris enjoys running or cycling in the hills of Mauritius as often as he can. He loves the quality of life in Mauritius and takes every opportunity to enjoy being out and about in this beautiful country and eating in the wonderfully diverse cafes and restaurants around the island. He is married and has one daughter.
The British Council aims to build opportunities that benefit people in Mauritius and the UK. Tris is keen to continue supporting relations between the UK and Mauritius, through strengthening British Council’s work here and developing stronger partnerships with Mauritian organisations and people.
