Important information on COVID-19 for British Council customers and partners

In light of the continually evolving coronavirus pandemic and following the government directives, the British Council is making changes in its operations with several restrictions in place until further notice. They are as follows:

Customer contact

Our offices are temporarily closed to the public; please contact us via telephone on 4030200 or email from Tuesday to Friday from 10.00 to 18.00 and from 09.00 to 15.00 on Saturday. 

English Teaching Centre 

To continue to protect the health and safety of our students, all British Council English classes will now be delivered online, with the exception of Learning Time with Timmy for 3-6 year olds. Registered students, please check your emails for instructions on how to join your classes. For new students, please visit to register and book your online consultation with our experts.

Examination services


In light of the lockdown in Mauritius, IELTS test scheduled between 10 and 25 March 2021 have been cancelled. We will however resume testing once it is safe to do so and will provide registered candidates with priority seats on our upcoming exams sessions. Members of the customer service team will be contacting those candidates to offer a choice of preferred test dates.

All Professional and University exams are currently on hold.
