As our next Senior Accountant you will be responsible for supporting the end to end accounting process in Botswana, Malawi, Mauritius and Mozambique, including month and year-end close. You will ensure consistent, accurate and robust financial accounting processes in line with accounting practices and corporate policies. In this role, you will manage a team of accountants who may be based in multiple locations.

Role overview

What Should You Have 

You should have proven accounting, financial reporting and compliance experience. In addition, you must have experience applying accounting principles to accurately record financial transactions and maintain appropriate supporting documentation. You should be an effective communicator and fluent in English Language (spoken and written). Minimum of 2 years’ experience at a similar level in an accounting role and an accounting qualification are essential. For full details please review the attached documents.

Main Accountabilities 

You will work across operations in Botswana, Malawi, Mauritius and Mozambique to complete the following: 

  • Assist with manual journals and off-system payments requests ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant policies
  • Assist with reconciliation of all relevant accounts to ensure its completed to corporate standards 
  • Ensure that local external accounting requirements are adhered to
  • Prepare local Tax submissions and other statutory returns to Financial Controller for approval
  • Support in identifying issues and resolution in relation to financial accounting matters 
  • Produce periodic reports relating to financial accounting for the operation. 

Role requirements 

You should have the right to live and work in any of the following countries: South Africa, Botswana, Malawi, Mozambique, or Mauritius to be considered for this role. Having experience of working with a diverse team is also essential given the nature of this role.
