Understanding your Aptis results

Aptis results are designed to be clear, detailed and actionable. We move beyond simple "pass/fail" grades to provide a comprehensive profile of a candidate's language ability.

The scoring scale

Aptis scores are reported on a numerical scale (0–50) for each skill tested, as well as a CEFR level (A1–C).

  • Numerical score: Offers a granular view of performance, allowing you to distinguish between candidates who may be at the same CEFR level.
  • CEFR level: Provides a globally recognised standard of proficiency, from A1 (Beginner) to C (Advanced).

The candidate report

Each candidate receives an individual report that breaks down their performance in each skill.

  • Skill profile: A unique visual graph showing strengths and weaknesses across reading, writing, listening and speaking.
  • Grammar and vocabulary: A separate score that underpins the skills results, giving further insight into technical accuracy.

Fast turnaround

Speed is often critical for recruitment and admissions. Aptis results are typically available within 48 hours of the test date, allowing organisations to make quick, informed decisions without delaying their processes.
